What a Christmas without mother? This year mother was conspicuous by her absence because the air was laid back and stress free. Usually as the big day approaches , mother frets and panics as she makes the last minute preparations for the family day. She single-handedly likes to make sure all arrangements and bookings , if the family is going away, are finalised before the day arrives.
For some reason, christmas 2011, sang a different tune as each task mother attempted would hit a brick wall after another. As if there was some conspiracy plan, all arrangements and plans lay flat on the ground and none would dare raise their ugly heads. Mother was in for a brand new experience. Mother packed up two days before the day . Perhaps she realised that she had been driving a solo act all these years and nobody really cared! Mother stopped fussing and fretting; instead she took the much needed break and took a long nap. When she woke up, Christmas was over and she was shocked to find everything intact. Nothing had cracked or crumbled in her absence and there were big smiles on her children's faces. Mother's lesson this year was to take it easy as 2011 wrapped up and to preserve energy for the magical year of 2012.
