: Symptoms of InsecurityOver-dependency and jealously are two of the biggest symptoms of insecurity. Over-dependency can often make you clingy with loved ones. Jealousy can do the same, but it also has a tendency to make you angry and paranoid. Other symptoms can include low self-confidence, bad communication skills, and a heavy feeling of vulnerability. Those with insecurity can also go in an opposite direction, and feel the need to constantly brag about what they do have. This is their way of hiding the fact that they’re insecure because they don’t want others to know or think badly of them. What Causes Insecurity?There are several causes for insecurity, and it can be hard to trace it back to one instance. Many times, insecurity comes from repeated action, such as a parent figure who was too harsh or an ex who cheated. Insecurity can also happen from working under a boss who was emotionally abusive, or a co-worker who treated you badly. The insecurity can then lead to negativity in both your mind and body. How Does Insecurity Affect the Body? Your body can suffer ill effects such as stomach aches, headaches, nausea, and weight gain or weight loss. You might also notice change to your skin or hair caused by stress. Your mind can have an even harder time dealing with insecurity. Your brain is wired to protect you, so if often fights against things such as insecurity and self-doubt. However, once you’ve programmed your brain to allow insecurity in, your brain stops fighting it so much. This can lead to depression, anxiety, and mood swings. Insecurity Affects Your Relationships: One of the worst things about insecurity is the negative affect it has on your relationships. If you struggle with jealousy, it may be hard to find a partner. If you have anger issues, your friends and family could feel isolated. Insecurity can also make it harder to discuss things with loved ones which leads to a block in communication.
How Do You Overcome Insecurity? There are several things you can try to overcoming insecurity. It’s important to acknowledge that it’s a problem for you, and one you want to work on fixing. Meditation and yoga have both been known to help get rid of insecure feelings. You can also try a focused therapy or support group. No matter what direction you take, the change can only occur once you realize that insecurity is affecting your life in a negative way. But don’t go it alone. Seek out caring and supportive people who will listen to your insecurities and love you anyway.
